I only had a couple of parties when I was a kid. I was too frightened. Partly, was frightened that my party would be terribly uncool. Mostly, I was afraid that it wouldn’t matter how uncool it was, because nobody would come to it, anyway.
I’ve always been a bit the same about running competitions on this blog. How awful would it be, I thought, to put on a competition and have nobody enter.
I’ve decided that now is the time to face my fears.
After all, if I want my characters to be strong, confident, fearless young women, surely I should do my best to be a strong, confident, fearless, slightly-less-young woman myself.
Clementine has started sneakily making her way out into the world. I’ve spotted her in one bookshop already, Some of my friends have glimpsed her at another.
And so I’m wondering …
Have you seen her?
And if you have, would you mind attempting to capture her, by means of a photograph?
If you do (or, at least, if you’re one of the first five people who do), I’ll send you a copy. A signed one, even. To your house and all.
I’d love it if you came to my party, lovely people. You’re the reason I do this, and I want to give you something in return. So go forth. Capture. And share the photo with me, on Facebook, Twitter, here in the comments or via email. And you’ll get a shiny, signederific copy of Clem, of your very own.
