Because marmot.

Is a marmot.

According to beloved Wikipedia (sorry, librarian sisters, but I think it’s the duck’s guts), “Marmots are large ground squirrels in the genus Marmota, of which there are 15 species. Those most often referred to as marmots tend to live in mountainous areas, such as the Alps, northern Apennines, Eurasian steppes, Carpathians, Tatras, and Pyrenees in Europe and northwestern Asia; the Rocky Mountains, Black Hills, Cascades, Pacific Ranges, and Sierra Nevada in North America; and the Deosai Plateau in Pakistan and Ladakh in India.”

I don’t much mind where they live, or what people call them. Just knowing that these creatures exist somewhere in the world is enough to make it a brighter place.

Happy weekend, from all the marmots and me.
