The Real Daisy Blue Part 2: Ubud, monkeys and “that” tofu

Ubud
Ubud

This morning, we went swimming at Kuta beach. The waves were tremendous! In the afternoon we went to the bungy jumping pools to watch people jumping but no-one did, which was a bit disappointing!

At 3:00, we took a taxi to our next “port-of-call”, Ubud. The first thing I noticed was how quiet and cool it was compared with Kuta! And hardly any “alligators”! We are staying in a place called the Rice Paddy Inn which is heaps nicer than our hotel in Kuta. I can tell I’m going to like it very much. Tonight, we went to see “Get Shorty” at a theatre restaurant. All you have to do is buy one drink & you can watch the film for free. The film was really excellent – very funny!

Ubud Monkey Forest

Today, we went to a place called “Monkey Forest“. It is a sacred forest and is home to over 150 monkeys. They are so cute! We fed them peanuts & bananas & one stole Richard’s drink! They are very cheeky and greedy. Tonight we went to see a traditional Balinese “barong dance”. It was very good and beautiful. The barong was so cool!

Today we went to a place called Mas to buy a sculpture for Mrs Rafferty. We had lunch in a nice little cafe above a gallery. Mum had a tofu and she raved about it for ages. Everytime we would start to forget about it, she would say something like “Gee, I liked that tofu”, or “I just had a memory… about my tofu!”.

We bought a sculpture of someone praying for Mrs Rafferty & I bought a good luck charm.

In the afternoon we just played cards & boring stuff like that. I won’t bore you overly, so bye.
